Challenge Week Four and Five: Media and Memory

It was the most AMAZING invention in my whole entire life. It was my universe. It was my world. I just couldn’t do without my playscape.

That playscape was literally built around me. I was four when I begged and pleaded my parents for a playscape. And before I knew it, there I was, hanging on the perfectly soft wood just like a monkey swinging from vine to vine. My face would gleam with joy, making memories everyday. I would have adventures from treasure stealing pirates and super sneaky ninjas to the lighthearted princesses and the prince who saves the day. While I played on it, my whole world had no worries. Every moment counted when I was in my backyard.

I was so excited to come home from school every day to play on my playscape. Without it, my childhood wouldn’t have near as many memories to look back upon and smile.

Maudie’s

As soon as I walk in, the relishing Tex-Mex smell swirls all around you. The waiters welcome you and greet you with warmth. As soon as you see all the laughter and gleaming faces, you know that you’ve picked the perfect restaurant. This restaurant is the one and only Maudie’s. It’s the best Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin, Texas!

Maudie’s has the most unique architecture! It’s definitely anything BUT boring. The mini waterfall outside swiftly glides across the glossy blue rocks. The goldish-brown wooden sticks, drape horizontally from the ceiling. Beautiful and colorful Mexican paintings hang from the walls with pride. But not only is the restaurants decor fantastic, but their food is mouth-watering! The exquisite, tasteful, and deliciously seasoned food puts a smile on my face. I would come here every day if I could! I don’t think this place could get any better.

I always love to eat out at Maudie’s no matter what mood I’m in. They bring out the best Tex-Mex food in all of Texas. Maudie’s also has a lunch and dinner menu along with a breakfast menu too! There’s no way to be in a bad mood once you walk through the doors here.

So come over to Maudie’s where you’ll have the time of your life! It’s the best Tex-Mex food in Austin. Trust me; this will be your favorite restaurant.

Masks

People wear masks all the time. There are all different types- like as in a costume or emotions.

Some masks you can see. Scary ones, cool ones, and really weird ones too. They’re worn a lot during Halloween and Mardi Gras. They’re really fun to have.

The other kinds of masks are invisible. No one can see them except for you. No ones a robot– everyone has felt some kind of emotions before. Whether your angry, sad, jealous, or you feel empty. But when you put a smile on your face, nobody will notice your mask. It’s an even more heavier burden than a real mask.

People might wear a real mask on a holiday for fun, but nobody wants an invisible mask. Everybody wears masks. Just what kind of mask everyone wears is different.

Pep Rallies

“Go wildcats! Y’all can win!” The sounds of roaring crowds as they cheer on the wildcats. The cheerleaders do all their stunts and tricks. It makes you feel pumped up to win your next game for your school! Pep rallies are SUPER fun!

Earlier in the pep rallies, they call out the names of all the team players. And this year, I’ve been on the volleyball and basketball team– so it feels good when they say your name to stand up. You feel really proud to be standing up with all eyes on you.

In addition, all the classes are shorter, which means you are in a happier mood! The classes are about 35-40 minutes which means you don’t have as much homework because you can’t get to everything that was planned! Therefore, you don’t know how to do the homework.

Lastly, you get to hang out with your friends! Theres no assigned seats like in class and you get to talk and be as loud as you want! Barbra and I sit on the bleachers laughing our heads off! Being with your friends just adds to all the games and fun!

Now you know exactly why I wouldn’t want to miss a single pep rally… because I love them!

True Friends Would…

…never ever leave your side

…be there for you

…eternally catch you when you fall

…never talk behind your back even when pigs start to fly

…in no way, ever think of leaving you

…forever, be honest with you

…laugh with you and not at you

…stick with you through hard times

…bring the sunshine to your rainy days

…choose you out of everybody

“These Boots Were Made for Walking”

Into the halls of WRMS a million times. On planes to different continents. Toward the rain and off into the sunsets, goes my shoes that are two sizes smaller for me but I insist I wear them.

The small patches of white and blue paint on the bottom from art class last year. And the bright red laces worn out. With a shimmery bandanna pattern on the side. And the inside, as plushy as could be.

Upon the hills of grass, and valleys of dirt, my shoes still hang in there without a doubt. Soon enough they will give up and start giving me blisters. But all I have to do is wear band aids on my heels.

Regarding any other shoe, I would choose my one-of-a-kind Sperry Top Siders for all my adventures to come.

The Lion King On Broadway

My favorite movie when I was a little kid was not any of the Barbie movies or any of the princess movies. It was the Lion King.

I used to watch that movie over and over again. In fact, I almost knew every line to every song and sang along all the time. We had all the special edition packages too. When our family went on road trips, we had 2 portable TV’s to watch in the car. And because of me, we were watching the Lion King.

Just recently, I watched the Broadway show that cam to Downtown Austin. It was AMAZING! They had so many puppets and so much action. I really, really loved it a lot!
